UBP12 Twitter party

Ultimate Blog Party 2012

Holy cow! I had never seen my Twitter roll so fast in my life! On Monday, April 16 (that was yesterday as I write this) 5 Minutes for Mom hosted a “Twitter party” from 9:00 to 10:30 PM Eastern time.

First of all, what the heck is a Twitter party? In short, it’s a scheduled meet-up on Twitter in which all of the participants use the same hashtag in order to stay in one big conversation.

Ok, now that you know what a Twitter party is, let me tell show you what it looked like:

Yes, the tweets were coming across practically that fast. I couldn’t keep up in Tweetdeck, so I opened up Tweetgrid and plugged in the #UBP12 hashtag to try to slow things down.

It didn’t really work. I could hardly keep up in Tweetgrid, the posts were coming in so fast. I finally got to the point that I accepted that I would only be sipping at the stream, and tried to not fall too far behind.

I’ll admit, I was hoping to win one of the three different $100 Target gift cards that were up for grabs. That would buy a good amount of groceries or even a few sets of work clothes. Alas, it wasn’t meant to be.

All in all, I had a good time, and a couple of laughs, talking about Dr. Who (Eccleston was better, IMO, but Smith is good… But that CHIN!) with some of the other participants. I also saw at least one, maybe two other dad bloggers in the mix.

I just have to figure out a way to not drown in the sheer volume of tweets. Got any ideas?
